News and research on all cancers and treatments, 10,000-item data base of these
My check-up on 11th April, 2017 cystoscopy and biopsy, following my 3 bouts of BCG treatment (04Jan17-08Feb17), showed two reddish spots. Biopsies of these has come back negative - no evidence of cancer. This also accords with the results of my molecular bladder cancer markers (NMP-22 and CxBladder), which also report no evidence of cancer.
In my discussion with the urologist, he volunteered that he did not know of any other patient with my initial diagnosis who had responded so well and for so long. So much so, he had gone back and checked the original diagnosis and tumour slides; but only to confirm his original one - he implied colleagues thought he may have mis-diagnosed. He also said that, presented with the same condition today, he would make the same prognosis - death in a few weeks. He was hesitant to put my survival down to lifestyle - he had had several similar patients who'd followed a similar survival lifestyle as I advocate, but who had succumbed in a relatively short time. We agreed to do another checkup in 6 months, and to use Cysview (Positive data from Phase 3 US Blue Light Cystoscopy with Cysview® study).
I shall continue monitoring my bladder cancer by the aforementioned urine molecular biomarkers, usually at the start of each month.
I continue to use metformin - 2g/day - without any noticeable side effects. My urologist was impressed by the research I showed him for it, and stated he may start taking it himself.
Meanwhile, I continue also to log my lifestyle (exercise, supplements, nutrition, prescription drugs, cancer markers, kidney and hypertension markers, body composition, etc.
